The Fog & Flask
Every liquid settles by its own density. And at night the fog comes.
Run a cozy potion bar on a misty swamp. Pour layered potions that settle by density, grind, chop and heat ingredients, and serve curious guests with secrets of their own. By night, hold back the creeping fog with your lantern and follow the trail of your vanished mentor.
What is The Fog & Flask
Old Orvin ran the Mistmire bar for as long as anyone can remember. Now he is gone. All he left was a key under the doorstep, a recipe book on the counter, a note that reads “Don’t look for me. Look for the pages.” and a debt to the Alchemists’ Guild, which is now yours.
Every order is a layered potion, and every liquid has its own density. Pour too hard and the layers churn. Stop too early and the layer comes up short. Tilt the bottle, watch the stream and stop right on the mark.
Open the shutters, light the candles and start pouring. The first guests are already at the door.
The layers here are not a painted animation but real liquid physics: drops sort themselves by density, the heavy ones sink and the light ones rise. That is what turns pouring into a game of a steady hand — a trickle for thin layers, a firm pour for thick ones, and your fussier guests will notice anything spilled on the counter.
Between orders the shop has a life of its own. Thirteen regulars come in with their own temper, taste and secrets; you pin what you hear to the evidence board and follow Orvin’s trail to the old mill, the boarded-up cellar and a garden buried under snow. Each evening you choose one outing: the swamp for amber and herbs, or your mentor’s experiments.
The story runs through autumn, winter and spring, eight days each. On some nights the fog comes for the shop itself and the counter turns into a rhythm game: turn your lantern to meet each wave and hold out until dawn. Rent is due every evening, and once the story is over the shop stays open for as long as you keep paying.

74 recipes, from simple two-layer brews to the six-layer Northern Lights, 14 of them secret. Tall glasses, round flasks and wide goblets each fill differently.

A dwarf who wants it “just like back in the mountains”, a Guild inspector, a tarot-reading rabbit, an unhurried mushroom and a moneylender. Thirteen regulars, each keeping a secret.
A workshop behind the counter

The Fog & Flask FAQ
What is The Fog & Flask?
A cozy pixel-art potion shop sim. Your mentor has vanished, leaving you a bar on a misty swamp and a debt to the Alchemists’ Guild. By day you pour layered potions and prepare ingredients for your guests, in the evenings you head out into the swamp, and on some nights you hold the shop against the fog.
When does The Fog & Flask release?
The release is planned for 2027. The Steam page is currently under review by Valve — as soon as it goes live, an “Add to wishlist” button will appear here.
How do layered potions work?
Every liquid has its own density, and in the glass they sort themselves into layers — it is real physics, not a pre-drawn animation. Your job is to pour exactly as much of each layer as the recipe asks without churning the ones already poured.
Is it suitable for kids?
Yes. There is no violence, blood or death: the fog is dispelled with lantern light, will-o’-wisps are simply driven off, and the most serious threat is the rent and the Guild debt. Players just need to be able to read — there is a lot of dialogue.
Which languages will it support?
Fully in English, Russian, German, French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese — the interface and all dialogue. There is no voice acting; all speech is written on screen.
Mouse or controller?
Right now the game is designed for the mouse: pouring, the stations and the lantern are all mouse-driven. Controller support is planned closer to release.
